Travel Woes

Sitting in DC in Reagan National Airport waiting for a flight to West Palm Beach at nearly 7:00pm on Friday night reminds me why I started to hate traveling at my last job. It's not the act of traveling that I dislike so much but the out-of-my control circumstances that occur while traveling that I've yet to become at ease with.

I should be in Philadephia right now waiting for a flight to Fort Lauderdale which is where my car is. But due to some inclement weather in Philly I was forced to reroute, and if I wanted to get home tonight as opposed to tomorrow at 2:00pm, I had to mae so with what the airlines offered me.

In an effort to lighten my mood I've decide to make a list of all the things positive about this experience. Here they are:

1) the internet - thanks to my Verizon Air Card

2) The "chicks of the DC airport" - there's something about a sexy woman in business attire. Can I get lap dances here?

3) The smell of Cinnabon - I may have to indulge

That's a sad list ay. I think my flight was moved. I have to run.

Halloween

Today is Halloween and I'm at my desk working my ass off. This difference for me to day is I am wearing a Roman gladiator's garb. My forearm and chin protectors serve me well as I type email after email after email. My chest protector and cape make me feel ever so impenetrable. I feel like Russell Crowe must’ve felt when he donned a similar costume in the cinematic hit, Gladiator (2000). What a power trip he must’ve felt in between sets while he was beating up his girlfriend or wife at the time. His character was the baddest ass gladiator of them all. Much like me and my team here at work, he and his gladiator partners were amongst the best of the best and would fight to the death.

Let’s hope I don’t need to prove that point with my next phone call or email.

What?

It's been so long since I've blogged I don't remember how to do it. I'm going to really try to make this a more regular thing in my life though. Life's so damn good right now that it's hard not to jump online and type.

Hey hey hey, I'm still here

It's been quite a while since I've written. Truth is, I just haven't had much to say. For those of you who know me, you're probably saying, "this simply can not be true". I know, I am constantly talking and I always have something to say. Well, no lately.

The Norman Borlaug knows my brother

As many of you alread know, my younger brother, Ben, is working on his PHD in Plant Genetics at the Univeristy of Minnesota's Plant Pathology School. Well, this week he won an esteemed award - the M.F. Kernkamp award for most outstanding graduate student. This is huge and I am extremely proud of him. He's not only raising two wonderful children, but he's putting his amazingly bright mind to work for the betterment of mankind.

Norman Borlaug was in attendence. If you don't know who he is, well, he saved over a billion people with his work in plant pathology and genetics and is one of only five (5) people in history to have won the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal. The others: Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Theresa, Nelson Madela, and Elie Wiesel.

Blogging

Things have been wonderfully buys lately. In the last week I've been to a zoo, a conservatory, a carnival, a Rush concert, two Grace Potter shows and the Maryland v WVU football game. What a week! All of it was amazing except for the Terps game.

I'm in love with Grace Potter.

Family Ties

It's only Saturday, but it's already been an amazingly fun weekend. In the last 24 hours, I've taken my niece and nephew to a water park, an amusement park, a conservatory and a zoo.

Let me tell you, it is the most amazing and heart-warming experience to watch children's eyes widen and smiles brighten when they experience these types of good times.

Tonight, we are going to make dinner together - asado style.

I am truly blessed to have a close-knit family that I love and who love me.

Feelings of fatigue

Hi everyone. Sorry for the lapse in blog entries. My long weekend in Florida has thrown me off my schedule a bit. As for the weekend, I hope you all had a wonderful one. I did, for sure. I spent the weekend at a friend's house in Florida. He lives on the beach and has a pool and hot tub and what not. We definitely lived it up for a few days. Snorkeling, swimming, volleyball, etc...just a blast. Oh yeah, he had a big party too, to launch this website. You can probably imagine how crazy it was. 750+ people, a DJ, contests and games...a lot of stuff bordering on debauchery. It's no wonder I am dragging a bit today. ;o)

Lunar Eclipse Tomorrow

If you've never seen a lunar eclipse before, you should wake up early tomorrow morning (or go to bed very late tonight for my West coast readers) and check the next one out. It's quite an amazing thing to see.
